Kitchen/Bar Design & Bespoke Solutions

The ME Hotel used to be the popular Gaiety Theatre which suffered bomb damage during the war.  The new avant-garde hotel was designed by world famous ‘starchitects’ Foster & Partners and has won several awards since it opened in 2013.

Its varied dining experiences include; Cucina Asellina specialising in authentic, rustic Italian cuisine, modern steakhouse STK, chic Radio Rooftop Bar for tapas and cocktails, Marconi Lounge for relaxed drinks situated in the hotel lobby and the Nine Story Atrium, a cathedral-shaped atrium with a skylight over 24 metres high.  Grey Simmonds has worked with its Chef Director, Barry Vera to design its many foodservice and hospitality areas and deliver bespoke design and equipment solutions for the innovative hotel in central London.

Cucina Asellina delivers New York style Italian cuisine within a chic designer setting.  Years of commercial kitchen design expertise has enabled Grey Simmonds to transform the open and back kitchen area which features an impressive rustic wood oven and a range of capital equipment to suit the demands of the fine dining restaurant.

The unconventional vibe at STK is apparent from the unique design of the dining lounge to the high-energy atmosphere where guests are encouraged to dance on tables when the DJ kicks in after 10pm!  The fine dining experience is fused with the superior quality of a traditional steakhouse.  Behind the scenes, Grey Simmonds has lent its design expertise to create a functional kitchen space suited to the steakhouse chef and includes a giant bespoke butcher’s block, especially made for STK.

Grey Simmonds recently celebrated with Barry as he accepted the new Craft Guild’s Concept & Innovation Chef Award on behalf of modern steakhouse brand, STK.  Grey Simmonds has worked with Barry over many years to create innovative, stunning restaurants and highly functional kitchen and bar areas for all the fine dining restaurants under his directorship.

Since its launch, Radio Rooftop Bar high above the Strand has secured its status as one of central London’s prime rooftop drinking destinations. Grey Simmonds designed both the central bar and kitchen to supply its light menu and cocktails.
